Coronavirus Safety Measures

Guidelines to Plan your Visit

With the help of ski industry experts and local officials, Hogadon has spent the last few months preparing a safe opening plan.  While we are approximately two months, from ski season and some changes may be made to local, state, and national health guidelines and orders we wanted to share some of the opening plans prior to the beginning of pre-season pass sales.

Hogadon Basin Guests

  • Guests are strongly encouraged to wear face coverings any time social distancing cannot be achieved
  • Guests purchasing single day tickets will need to sign a contract-tracing sheet in the event that they need to be contacted by local health officials
  • Guests purchasing season passes are acknowledging that they attest, that they have not had exposure to any person with COVID-19 during the previous 14 days and that they are not experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19 at the time of arriving at Hogadon Basin Ski Area.
  • Lost and found items will be bagged, dated and kept for two weeks before discarded.

Hogadon Basin Staff

  • All staff are required to wear face coverings at all times.
  • Staff is screened for COVID-19 symptoms daily.

On the Mountain

  • Lift lines: Lift lines will use a larger maze format to promote social distancing between skiers. Guests are asked to use the tip to tail spacing of skis as a general guide for social distancing while waiting in the maze queue.
  • Lifts: The chairs are spaced approximately 50 feet apart and provide a constant directional airflow. The Magic Carpet “Mineshaft”, although covered, has optimal airflow and people will be spaced further a part for their riding and departing safety.
  • Slopes: Hogadon Basin has 75 skiable acres of terrain; the steady lift speeds and natural social distancing of skiing and snowboarding makes the experience on our mountain a relatively low outdoor risk activity.
  • Hogadon Basin Snowsports School will be open and taking lessons. Their on-snow learning format will be adjusted from seasons past to promote a safe learning environment for both instructors and students.

Hogadon Basin Lodge

  • Hand Sanitizer will be provided to guests at building entrances and exits.
  • Day lockers will not be available inside the lodge.
  • Seasonal lockers will be available for rent and family groups may use them together.
  • The mountain restaurant and bar will be open and guests will be able to purchase food and beverages.  Outside food is still allowed in the lodge.
  • There will be additional cleaning of high touch surfaces and tables.
  • Capacity Limits:  We are fully expecting that health orders will not allow the lodge to be at full capacity. Guests should expect the following:
o Entry: Entry into the lodge will be limited to certain doors so accurate counts of guests can be kept.
o Wait times: At times guests may have to wait to enter the lodge. We expect wait times to be longer on holidays, school breaks, and weekends.  Those with their own food are encouraged to eat in their vehicle to avoid long waits.
o Time limits: We ask that guests limit the amount of time they spend in the lodge, especially at tables. We ask that once guests are finished eating or drinking they exit the facility so others may enter. Guests may not congregate in the lodge or “hang out” for extended periods of time.
o Personal Belongings: Guests will not be able to store personal belongings, such as coolers, around the lodge or on the floors or tables. All items must be taken out of the lodge and placed in a vehicle or stored in a seasonal locker.
o Warming: Guests are encouraged to use their personal vehicles for warming purposes. Parents are encouraged to stay with their children to provide a warm vehicle. We cannot guarantee guests will have space in the lodge for warming at busy times.

Mountain Sports Rentals

  • Mountain sports rentals will be open and renting ski and snowboard equipment
  • Guests in the rental shop will be limited at times.
  • Additional sanitation and distancing measures will be implemented as well so processing times for rentals may be longer than in the past.
  • Face coverings will be required for guests and staff in the rental shop.
  • The rental shop is working on an enhanced reservation and communication system to allow guests to better plan their visit and get on the hill as fast as possible while respecting these public health guidelines.
